Randee Jones, 46, of Emporia, is now facing formal charges following her arrest last Thursday, for allegedly embezzling between $25,000 and $100,000 from her former employer, Mel's Tire.

According to the complaint filed in Lyon County District Court, Jones is charged with one count of theft and one count of identity theft. The complaint states the alleged criminal acts occurred between Jan. 1, 2022, and Oct. 31, 2024. During that period of time, she was employed at Mel's Tire. The theft charge is considered a "severity level 7 nonperson felony," and the Identity Theft charge is a "severity level 8 nonperson felony".

Jones posted a $25,000 bond and was released from the Lyon County Jail the day after her arrest. This week, she entered a waiver of extradition related to the bond.
