EASTERN PANHANDLE — Teacher shortages have become a major concern all over the country, even affecting the Eastern Panhandle. As local schools struggle to compete with those outside the state that offer higher paying jobs, it can be hard to keep certified teachers. Berkeley and Jefferson County schools are doing what they can to not only recruit teachers but support the ones who stay.
Berkeley County Schools Superintendent Ryan Saxe said that they are in a better position than last year. He points to the dedication of school principals and leaders who are the ones recruiting and supporting their staff.
