KINGSTREE, S.C. (WCSC) - Kingstree Police say they arrested a man Tuesday in connection with a shooting in July that left a 30-year-old man dead.

Charles Robert Britt, 45, was arrested Tuesday afternoon on a murder charge, Kingstree Police Chief Kimberly Marlow said.

The arrest followed a standoff between officers who had come to serve the warrant and Britt, whom Marlow said initially failed to comply with officers. Police called in the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division’s SWAT team.

Britt voluntarily surrended after the SWAT team had been called in, Marlow said.

Police were notified of an unresponsive man in the area of Railroad Avenue on July 7 at approximately 5:06 a.m., Marlow said. The victim, identified as 30-year-old Kevin Goodman, died as a result of the shooting, Marlow s
