PORTSMOUTH, Ohio. (WSAZ) - Ohio Governor Mike DeWine also celebrated a riverfront groundbreaking project today in Portsmouth.

They held the event behind the floodwall near the intersection of Front and Court Streets.

It’s a $34.2 million project funded by Ohio’s Wonderful Waterfronts Initiative.

Governor DeWine created the Wonderful Waterfronts Initiative to expand access to local waterways, revitalize historic riverfront downtowns, and create new opportunities for tourism and recreation in Ohio’s Appalachian region.
