ATHENS, Texas (KETK) -- The Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center announced on Tuesday that entries for their 2025-2026 Texas Fish Art contest are officially open to all Texas K-12 students.

Through art, science and creative writing, the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center hopes children can learn valuable lessons about fish and the outdoors. K-12 students are allowed to enter one physical piece of artwork per person that is limited to a two-dimensional format.

The contest also includes two award categories known as the Special Species Award and the Mighty Minnow Award. Submitted artwork will be judged in four different age categories, including: • Kindergarten through third grade • Fourth grade through sixth grade • Seventh grade through ninth grade • Tenth grade through twelfth grade
