Orange Beach appoints interim chief as Brown retires

As Orange Beach Police Chief Steve Brown readies to retire in September , city councilors tapped Lt. David Trent Johnson to serve as an interim head of the coastal law enforcement agency. The vote was not unanimous.

Brown announced in July he would bring his decades-long career with Orange Beach to a close on Monday, Sept. 1. He did not explain why he will retire, but mayoral candidate and city council member Jeff Boyd said Brown told him he “couldn’t take the pressure anymore.”
