PANOLA CO., Miss. (WMC) - A man is now behind bars in Mississippi, three weeks after a woman was found dead in Panola County in what was first declared a fatal crash.

Authorities revealed Tuesday that the victim, 41-year-old Amanda Liston, was shot before she veered off the road and struck a tree, making the case a homicide investigation.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation issued an arrest warrant for 36-year-old Cortrell Motley, charging him with first-degree murder.

On Monday, he was captured by the U.S. Marshals Service.

On July 26, Liston was found dead by highway patrol who responded to a crash on Highway 3, but authorities say they noticed she had been shot several times.
