POPLAR GROVE, Ark. (WMC) - A domestic violence victim is recovering and the suspect is dead after a standoff in Phillips County, Arkansas, on Sunday night.
Arkansas State Police says it happened around 9 p.m. in Poplar Grove.
Phillips County deputies initially responded to a home for a domestic violence call to find that the victim had been seriously injured, and the suspect, Brandon Billingsly, ran inside.
The victim was brought to a hospital in Memphis, where they are now stable.
Deputies tried to contact Billingsly from outside the home, but ASP says he shot at them and barricaded himself inside. State law enforcement was called out, and negotiations took about two and a half hours.
Around 3 a.m., police heard a gunshot.
