At 5:13 p.m. on Tuesday, the National Weather Service released an updated coastal flood advisory in effect until 10 p.m. for Cape May County.

The weather service describes, "Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways."

"Numerous roads may be closed. Low-lying property including homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure may be inundated. Some shoreline erosion may occur. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water," says the weather service.
