RALEIGH, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — While midterm elections are still more than a year away, candidates who will face tough re-election battles are already looking for ways to expand their base.
Don Davis, a Democrat from Eastern North Carolina, is re-upping his affiliation with a group that pushes centrist policies over partisan politics, called the Forward Party.
North Carolina is a purple state, and its congressional districts are drawn in a way that usually leads to single-party dominance in each district, but East Carolina Professor Brad Lockerbie said that can’t be said for the Davis’ district, NC-01.
“He lives in a district or represents a district that is going to be competitive in a two-party context,” said Lockerbie.
