ROCKY HILL, Conn. — For many college students, move-in day marks the start of independence a step away from home and family.
But for Ana Jimenez-Baez and Sam Mengwasser, two students at the University of Hartford , their new living situation comes with some unexpected neighbors: dozens of grandparents.
The two students are participating in the “Students and Residents” program through Masonicare, an intergenerational housing initiative that places college students in assisted living homes across Connecticut. This fall, they’re calling a room at Masonicare at Greenridge Place their dorm.
