GRAND RAPIDS, MI – The founder of Mr. Burger, a local burger chain with eight locations across West Michigan, has died at age 90.

Peter D. Christopoulos died peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 16, according to an obituary on the Arsulowicz Brothers Mortuary website.

Christopoulos started Mr. Burger in 1970. Since then, the chain has grown to eight restaurants across the greater Grand Rapids area, including in Wyoming, Kentwood and Hudsonville.

On Aug. 19, the sign outside the Hudsonville Mr. Burger read, “Thank you Pete, Rest in Peace,” in tribute to its owner.

A visitation for Christopoulos has been scheduled for 5-8 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 330 Lakeside Drive NE. His funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Aug. 22 at the same church.
