EUGENE, Ore. - A North Bend man was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for exploiting a child through Facebook Messenger, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Oregon.
Christopher Jay Young, 40, also faces 15 years of supervised release. According to court documents, Young used Facebook Messenger to persuade a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct and send him recordings.
On April 11, 2024, law enforcement, including the FBI and Lane County Sheriff's Office, executed search warrants on Young's home and vehicles, leading to his arrest. Investigators found that Young used the minor's social media account to request child sexual abuse material.
