VILANO BEACH, Fla. — Tuesday, St. Johns County Commissioners got an earful from residents of Vilano Beach.
This comes as what was approved as an RV park in Vilano Beach...won’t be an RV park after all.
The more than 30 acres on A1A in Vilano Beach had rows of palm trees in February. Now, those are gone, and heavy equipment is on the site.
People who live near the site are questioning what this project – called the Ocean Club RV Park – will become.
The site extends from the Intracoastal Waterway to the beach. It was a campground, but it was abandoned years ago in 2021. The county commission approved the landowner’s request for an RV park.
However, the land has since changed ownership, and the new plans call for 170 “rentable cabins," according to county documents. It’s unclear if that
