After spending nearly a year on the free-agent market following his release from the Detroit Lions, Nate Sudfeld has found a familiar professional home.
The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of the 31-year-old quarterback on social media while placing running back Patrick Taylor Jr. on injured reserve in a corresponding move.
A video later surfaced on X showing Sudfeld already back on the practice field. The move marks a return to San Francisco for Sudfeld, who previously played for the 49ers before his stint in Detroit.
The Lions originally signed Sudfeld ahead of the 2022 season to back up starter Jared Goff.
That year, he appeared in limited action and threw for seven yards. Detroit re-signed him in March 2023, but he tore his ACL during a preseason matchup with the Carolina
