LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - A former Sulphur restaurant owner is standing trial in Calcasieu Parish on rape charges dating back to the 1990s.
Choy Van Leo, 61, was on the run for over 20 years before he was arrested last year at his new restaurant in Spirit Lake, Iowa.
Today, in a Calcasieu Courtroom, two of Van Leo’s alleged victims took the stand against him. They described the graphic memories of abuse they say they endured when they were just children more than 20 years ago.
The first victim told jurors she was just five years old when Van Leo first molested her in 1995. She said he raped and abused her multiple times until she was 10 years old, describing a rape in the backseat of his car as one of her worst memories.
