NEWPORT, R.I. —

Rhode Island's assistant attorney general, Devon Hogan Flanagan, was arrested Thursday for allegedly causing a scene at a Newport restaurant and refusing to leave. The exchange was recorded by an officer's body-worn camera.

Upon arrival, officers of the Newport Police Department were met with demands to turn off their body cameras, with Flanagan asserting, "I want you to turn your body cam off. Protocol is that you turn it off if a citizen requests."

"She's a lawyer," the other woman in the video sa id.

Flanagan, wearing a pink dress, was identified as the state's assistant attorney general, and a man beside her claimed to be her husband.
