The King Fire was fully contained Tuesday after burning 591 acres north of Pyramid Lake in Gorman, destroying a double-wide trailer, two vehicles and two out buildings.

The wildfire broke out shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday in the 45100 block of Copco Avenue, east of the Golden State (5) Freeway and south of state Route 138, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

Firefighters from the Los Angeles County, Angeles National Forest and Kern County fire departments jointly battled the flames amid winds that at times gusted up to 30 mph. Video showed high, intense flames leaping into the air near the Golden State Freeway.

The fire attempted to cross the freeway three times, according to the U.S. Forest Service.
