GROTON, Conn — As Hurricane Erin continues to churn well off the coasts of New York and New Jersey, officials are urging caution along the Eastern Seaboard.
While the storm is not expected to make landfall, it is bringing strong winds and the potential for high surf conditions that could pose risks to mariners and beachgoers alike.
At Noank Shipyard in Groton, workers are staying vigilant despite a general sense of calm.
“I think we're gonna get some swells, a little bit of wind, you know, 25 to 30 mile an hour winds,” said Dan Kinne, general manager of Noank Shipyard.
Though not overly concerned, Kinne and his team aren’t taking any chances.
