BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - At Tuesday’s public hearing, city officials, community members and first responders gathered to hear a breakdown of the 2025 proposed tax rate.
The Bowling Green Finance Department proposed the tax rate to stay the same as last year at 20.4%.
City commissioners decided to lower this tax rate to 20.3%.
“Bowling Green, being the fastest growing city in the state has just a good, vibrant economy. And with that economy comes a good real estate market and our real estate values have held up many times over and over during recessions and downturns. And so, we’ve always relied on that. just that natural growth in property assessment to just to keep our rates steady,” said City Manager Jeff Meisel.
Meisel wanted taxpayers to understand the breakdown of their taxes.
