HILLSDALE, Mich. (WILX) - The Michigan Department of Transportation and the County Road Association spoke to lawmakers on Tuesday about renaming a portion of M-34 in honor of fallen Hillsdale County Deputy William Butler.
Deputy Butler was killed in the line of duty during a traffic stop in June of last year.
Tuesday, the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure unanimously voted to advance the measure in the House of Representatives for consideration.
If passed by the House, the designated stretch of M-34 would be named the ‘Deputy Sheriff William Butler, Jr. Memorial Highway.’
