A Calera neighborhood is split after a teen was arrested on several charges Monday night. The police chief said this incident just goes to show why it’s important to make sure parents keep an eye on their kids.
Calera police chief David Hyche said officers responded to a call in the Old Ivy neighborhood on Monday night. He told WVTM 13 someone reported a kid pointing a gun at drivers. When police got there, the kid ran inside a dark room, and the officer followed him. He’s now being charged with underage drinking, carrying a stolen gun and resisting arrest.
Some neighbors feel the kid didn’t do anything that other kids don’t do, and believe he’s being targeted. Others said they’re sick of their quiet neighborhood being disrupted. Police are just glad the situation wasn’t
