CANTON, Mo. (WGEM) - Labor Day is just over two weeks away and this has led to local law enforcement preparing for what could be unsafe conditions in the community or even out on the roads.

Labor Day is one of the last chances many might get to relax by the pool and have some fun on the water, but local law enforcement wants everyone to remain safe.

Canton Police Chief Tycher Blakely said there will be heavy enforcement out on the roads to watch out for drunk driving. He also said if you intend to drive somewhere, then you should try to find a designated driver.

Blakely said safety doesn’t just apply to the roads.

“People are going to be enjoying their weekend, so we definitely want to make sure that our presence is known, that you need to be responsible whenever you’re out drinking,”
