PORTLAND, Oregon — On the Springwater Corridor, you never know who you’ll cross paths with. Chris Rydman would love to know whom he encountered there the morning of Aug. 8, but he wasn’t conscious at the time.
“I just want to say thank you,” Rydman said. “They called medical for me, they mailed my wallet back for me, they turned my phone in.”
That morning, Rydman was riding his bike to work when he suffered a seizure near Southeast 4th Avenue and Ivon Street. When he briefly regained consciousness, he saw police officers hovering over him.
“I vaguely remember them helping me into what I assume was an ambulance, and then I lost consciousness again,” Rydman recalled.
At the hospital, he learned he had suffered a broken nose, a broken orbital bone, and more than 40 stitches across his fac
