VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — It was the calm before the storm at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront Tuesday night as tourists, residents and business owners await the impacts from Hurricane Erin.
"A hurricane is a hurricane," said Ocean Eddie's manager Alexa Schwantes. "Everyone needs to be careful."
That's the message to those visiting the Cceanfront this week as Hurricane Erin is expected to bring high tides and high winds to the busy resort area. Red flags wave up and down the beach, and some restaurants and businesses are already taking precautions, removing patio furniture among other things.
"Starting to today, as opposed to yesterday, everyday a little bit more and I'm noticing it around the neighborhood as well, people taking precautions rather be safe than sorry," said Chris Thoman
