RICHMOND, Va. (WAVY) - Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin has scheduled a press conference Wednesday afternoon to provide an update on Hurricane Erin and Virginia’s preparedness efforts. He is holding the media event at 5:30 p.m.

Earlier in the day, the governor tweeted, "We continue to closely monitor Hurricane Erin’s offshore track. The storm is bringing dangerous water conditions to Virginia’s coast. In addition to current extremely dangerous rip tides and rough surf, starting tonight, expect tidal flooding at evening high tide, dangerous surf, and beach erosion through Friday. State and local teams are ready to respond to flooding and other storm impacts. Please stay clear of the water and follow local safety advisories."
