Even when the competition got “a little nervy,” Hassan Salem of Denver, Colorado, was having fun at the Killebrew-Thompson Memorial golf tournament at Elkhorn Golf Course on Saturday.

The Killebrew-Thompson Memorial—which honors the late Minnesota Twins shortstop Danny Thompson and the late National Baseball Hall of Fame member Harmon Killebrew, who both died of cancer—is one of the country’s leading fundraisers for cancer research and has raised over $24.5 million since its founding in 1977.

“Knowing it was for a good cause and it was with friends that you get to play with—but compete against—makes it that much more fun and exciting to get in the mix and compete,” Salem said.

Salem, along with teammates Wayne Baldwin, John Elmore and John Jackson, won the tournament’s team net-two best
