In the 2024-25 school year, Nelson County Public Schools improved its Standards of Learning assessment pass rates from 72.1% last year to 76% this year, Supervisor of Instruction and Info Systems Ryan Yarzebinski said at the county school board’s Aug. 14 meeting.
Yarzebinski said the division is still awaiting statewide data, but within all 74 Comprehensive Instructional Program school divisions, NCPS ranked 7th overall in improvement in overall pass rates with this 3.8% improvement.
CIP is a consortium of public school divisions in Virginia working to improve student SOL achievement.
Nelson Middle School improved its 2024 pass rate by 4.5%, while Tye River Elementary School improved by 3%, Rockfish River Elementary School by 1.8% and Nelson High School by 1.1%.
