NCPS implements clear bag policy at ticketed athletic events as part of new security policies

Nelson County Public Schools is implementing new safety and security policies at athletic and extracurricular events, Athletic Director Greg Mullins told the school board Aug. 14.

As part of this effort, the division has implemented a clear bag policy for all 2025-26 ticketed athletic events at the Nelson County High School and Middle School complex.

Non-clear bags, backpacks, camera bags, purses, fanny packs and computer bags will not be allowed in NCPS sporting venues, the policy said.

“The key is it’s got to be see-through,” Mullins said. “We have to be able to see what’s in there, and if we can’t, we will search the clear bag.”
