The recent announcement by the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority of plans to trim the frequency of stops and potentially eliminate entire routes hasn't gone unnoticed by advocates around the state including here in Warren where the town council formalized its opposition to the decision by passing a resolution on the subject at its August session.
Specifically, Councilor Derek Trombley introduced the article for discussion, receiving the unanimous support of his peers. Trombley's letter voiced the concerns of the council's constituency that utilizes RIPTA Routes 60 and 61X, which traverse the town, noting the adverse effects reductions would have on residents who rely on public transit for all sorts of reasons.
