The Barrington Woods Trail Race steps off on Sunday, Aug. 24. The fast heat will start at 9 a.m., and the general heat begins at 10 a.m.

The Barrington High School cross country teams organize the 5K race, which is held in the trails behind the Barrington High School tennis courts. All money raised at the event helps fund the BHS boys and girls cross country teams’ travel expenses for invitational meets.

“These more competitive meets offer an opportunity for our athletes to be more easily recruited by colleges and universities, and Barrington's presence in the running world can be furthered beyond state borders,” stated a press release for the event.
