UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) -- Another bat has tested positive for rabies in the Utica area, this time in South Utica, according to the Oneida County Department of Health.
The bat was caught and sent to the New York State Department of Health's Wadsworth Center in Albany on Monday, August 18. Positive results were reported back to the county Health Department on Tuesday, August 19.
One person and two cats were exposed to the bat. The person received post-exposure treatment, while the cats received boosters for their vaccinations.
This is the second bat in approximately a week to test positive for rabies. On Thursday, August 14, one was found in New Hartford.
