HANNIBAL (WGEM) - Mayor Darrell McCoy declared Hannibal a Purple Heart City at Tuesday’s city council meeting.

The proclamation comes as part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Hannibal Heritage Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, according to city council officials.

City council officials stated the Purple Heart City designation recognizes the sacrifice and dedication of military veterans who received the Purple Heart.
