GRANITE FALLS, Minn. — All eyes were on the skies Saturday, Aug. 16, as the Fagen Fighters WWII Museum outside of Granite Falls, Minnesota, hosted a “Victory at Sea” air show to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory over Japan ending World War II.
The event also celebrated the 250th birthday of the Navy and Marines. Originally scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday, wet and stormy weather forced a late start on Saturday and the cancellation of Sunday’s show.
Nonetheless, hundreds of visitors came to celebrate the event and watch the air show on Saturday featuring fighter planes, bombers and other aircraft from World War II and some from the post-war era.
