MONROE — A free two-weekend apprenticeship readiness program is being offered at Monroe County Community College for people interested in entering skilled trades.

The program runs Fridays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 3-4 and Oct. 10-11. Students must attend all four sessions to be eligible for a certificate of completion, credits, and a tool set, college officials said. Courses over the two weekends include trade math, welding basics, millwright basics, construction and electrical trade, industrial writing, and OSHA 10 safety training.

Participants will “develop the skills, confidence and professional connections needed to be successful,” and will meet representatives from different trades to explore apprenticeship opportunities, according to program guidelines.
