ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A man in Canandaigua was arrested after authorities said they received a tip that he illegally owned firearms.

The Ontario County Sheriff's Office arrested 42-year-old Kristopher Culbertson for allegedly having multiple firearms inside his vehicle. Deputies said they uncovered an assault rifle that was not compliant with NYS law, several loaded magazines, and body armor.

Deputies said Culbertson was from Colorado, and court documents said he is not allowed to own these weapons in any state. It was alleged that Culbertson also doesn't own a NYS pistol permit.

Culbertson has been charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned in court on Wednesday and released on bail.
