STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — New York City residents will want to keep an umbrella handy on Wednesday, as it is set to rain well into the evening.

A front passing near the city will continue to bring rainfall to the five boroughs, conditions will worsen in the evening hours.

“Not out of the question that maybe this evening into the nighttime hours that there’s some downpours that lead to some localized flooding,” Tom Kines, a senior meteorologist with AccuWeather , told the Advance/SILive.com.

Heavy rain should hold off throughout the daylight hours, but “downpours” could begin as early as Wednesday evening and occur in the overnight hours into Thursday, according to Kines.
