JEFFERSON PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A new license plate celebrating Jefferson Parish's bicentennial was released on Wednesday, Aug. 20.

According to parish officials, the plate can be issued to privately owned automobiles/vans, trucks up to 16,000 pounds and recreational vehicles. Any Louisiana citizen can apply for the plate, but customers must have a properly titled and registered vehicle.

The cost of the plate is a $50 royalty fee, which benefits the Jefferson Community Foundation, registration fees, an $8 handling fee and a $3.50 administrative handling fee. Residents can complete the online process for special plates on the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles website.

Immediate issuance of the plate is available through select OMV field offices and various public tag agent locations.
