NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — New Orlean Mayor Latoya Cantrell's court date has been set for Sept. 18.
Cantrell will make her plea to the federal charges outlined in her indictment. She faces 18 charges, including conspiracy, wire fraud and obstruction of justice. They're all related to an alleged romantic relationship with her former bodyguard, Jeffrey Vappie.
The two are accused of defrauding the city to have Vappie's salary and expenses paid when he was with the mayor and not on the clock.
