PHENIX CITY, Ala. (WTVM) - A 23-year-old man has died following a vehicle crash in Phenix City.

According to officials, Trevor L. Woods of Fort Mitchell was killed Monday evening, Aug. 18, when the car he was driving left the roadway, struck a tree and overturned near the intersection of Fontaine Road and 6th Place South.

Authorities say Woods was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene. His body will be sent for an autopsy later this week.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) reports Woods was driving a 2015 Dodge Challenger and was attempting to elude law enforcement at the time of the crash. He was being pursued by an officer with the Phenix City Police Department prior to the accident.

The crash remains under investigation by ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division
