A new partnership between Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias and the Illinois Enviornmental Protection Agency aims to reduce the hassles that surround vehicle emissions testing requirements.
The partnership will establish the only vehicle emissions testing facility in the City of Chicago.
For years, residents of the City of Chicago were left to travel to suburban testing locations as there has not been a single testing center within city limits since 2016.
"Bringing services to people where they need them, reducing the hassle and sparing a trip to the suburbs will go a long way toward improving the lives of Chicago area drivers and vehicle owners," Giannoulias said.
The Secretary of State's office began partnering with IEPA to pilot mobile vehicle emissions testing this week
