ADAMS County, Pa. (WHTM) -- The first day of school for one area district started with a bus crash.

At about 7 a.m. Wednesday morning, a bus carrying Gettysburg Area School District middle and high school students was involved in a minor accident, the district said. One student was taken to the hospital for an evaluation.

A crash report from Pennsylvania State Police said the bus was traveling east on Fairfield Road in Highland Township when it activated its amber and red lights, as well as its stop sign. When the bus came to a stop, a vehicle traveling in the opposing lane rear-ended another car it was closely following, before crossing the solid double-yellow line and striking the bus head on.
