A 26-year-old man was charged Wednesday with stabbing a man in Fullerton.

The stabbing occurred about 1 a.m. Monday near West Houston and South Roosevelt avenues, according to Kristy Wells of the Fullerton Police Department.

Police apprehended Alexis Jesus Gutierrez within about a half-hour of the stabbing, Wells said. The suspect and victim appeared to know each other, she added.

The man was rushed to a hospital. He was expected to survive, Wells said.

Gutierrez was charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a metal knuckles, all felonies. He also faces sentencing enhancements for inflicting great bodily injury on the victim and the personal use of a deadly weapon.
