A brush fire scorched roughly four acres of terrain in the Laguna Niguel area Wednesday, threatening structures and prompting some evacuation orders before crews halted the flames.
The fire broke out at 3:26 p.m. at Alcott Place and Ridgeway Avenue, according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Greg Barta. Firefighters halted forward progress on the blaze, and limited damage to some fences at the rear of a few homes, by roughly 5 p.m., Barta said.
During the height of the blaze, officials ordered evacuations for residents along Copps Hill Street. A shelter in place order was put in place for Middleton Place and Alcott.
A temporary shelter was set up at Crown Valley Community Center at 29751 Crown Valley Parkway.
There were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire was not immediate
