CYNTHIANA, Ind. (WEHT) - Indiana's Lieutenant Governor Micah Beckwith awards more than $1 million in total grant funding to the communities of Cynthiana and Birdseye. The grants are through the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs. Birdseye received $700,000 for their water treatment facility, while Cynthiana was awarded a check for $673,500.

The town began pushing for the grant funding as early as April of 2024, where social media posts cited a need for new pipes, valves and hydrants, as well as upgrades to Cynthiana's water tower. Lieutenant Governor Beckwith says funding like this for a small community like Cynthiana goes a long way.
