DAVIESS COUNTY, (Ky.) WEHT -- A non-profit is asking for help to continue its support for survivors of sexual assault in the hospital room.
It's called "Laundry of Love." New Beginnings Sexual Assault Support Service began the program after seeing a need in the community two decades ago.
"If we can make a difference in somebody's really bad day, if we can help someone get their dignity back in any way, shape or form, we are going to do that," says Lauren Patterson, the Community Engagement Specialist.
The non-profit says it noticed too many survivors leaving hospitals after a forensic exam with nothing but a hospital gown.
"When you are going in for a sexual assault exam, it takes away your dignity and your pride. And so we really wanted to empower them and let them leave the hospital
