BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. – As West Ridge High School’s football team went through the traditional paces that comprise media day on July 24, a bystander asked head coach Justin Hilton about senior running back Ethan Amyx.
“Look at him,” Hilton remarked. “He fits the bill in a uniform. He needs to be the first one off the bus when we play on the road.”
Fittingly sporting jersey No. 1, the 6-foot-1, 195-pound Amyx will likely be the first option for West Ridge’s offense this season.
The Wolves open the season on Friday night at home against the Tennessee High Vikings.
“He’s going to get a lot of carries,” Hilton said.
The workload shouldn’t be a problem for Amyx, who has a nice blend of strength and speed. He has put on about 20 pounds thanks to rigorous work in the weight room.
