Having plenty of depth at wide receiver, the Broncos on Wednesday traded Devaughn Vele to the New Orleans Saints.
The Broncos received a 2026 fourth-round draft pick and a 2027 seventh-round selection for Vele, who caught 41 passes for 475 yards as a rookie last season.
Vele had been battling to be one of Denver's primary receivers after Courtland Sutton, but the Broncos sought to turn elsewhere when sorting out their depth. They have holdover Marvin Mims Jr., Troy Franklin, who has looked good in his second season, rookie Pat Bryant and veteran Trent Sherfield. Sherfield, known mostly for his play on special teams, has turned heads with his play at receiver in training camp and the preseason.
