GREENVILLE, Maine — Recent federal cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program are leaving families concerned about how they will put food on the table.
“It’s harder to get healthier and nutritious foods to families who are in need,” Kelly Sirimoglu, the executive director at Piscataquis Regional Food Center , said.
The nonprofit organization delivers fresh produce multiple times a week to families in a region where transportation can often be a barrier to accessing essential resources.
The Piscataquis Regional Food Center transported just under 2,000 pounds of produce to Northern Light CA Dean Hospital for distribution at its pop-up market in Greenville.
