PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- An "Extreme Heat Watch" was issued once again for the Willamette Valley as Portland and much of the Pacific Northwest prepares for dangerous heat.

The National Weather Service has issued this latest watch for the Willamette Valley from Friday morning through Sunday night. Afternoon temperatures are expected to warm into the triple-digits for much of western Oregon and southwest Washington on Friday and Saturday.

Very little relief from the heat is expected during the overnight hours. Early morning lows are only expected to fall into the 60s and low 70s. The mild start to the day will allow temperatures to reach near record-breaking conditions.

Records are most likely to be broken Friday and Saturday as Portland could see its first 100-degree day of the year this
